    Option Basics

    In this module we will discuss what options are. We will also discuss the reasons for using options, and introduce to you the key terms for options.

    Call & Put Options

    In this module we will discuss the differences between Call and Put options. We will outline why you would adopt either Call or Put options, and go through some examples of when a Call or Put option would be exercised. We will also define what ATM, OTM and ITM strike levels are for Call and Put options. We will also introduce you to the strategies we will be discussing throughout this course.

    In this module, you will learn what components make up the price, or the premium, of an option contract and the difference between Intrinsic and Extrinsic Value.

    Influences on Option Prices

    In this module you will learn the influencing factors that affect the value of an option price, and why an option’s value fluctuates.

    Advanced Concepts

    In this module, we will discuss advanced concepts for option pricing. We will introduce to you the Greeks and the Black Scholes pricing model. We then will further discuss Time Decay, which is represented by the Greek Theta, and also discuss the Volatility as represented by Vega. Finally, we will introduce to you the Normal Distribution Bell Curve, and how an options Time Value is represented graphically.

    Margining on ASX

    In this module you will learn about Margining with regards to Options. We will outline the requirements of the ASX and Australian Clearing House, introduce you to the term Margin Call, explain the terminology and introduce you to the key governing bodies.

    Section 2: Stock Analysis Methods

    Technical Analysis & Charting Price

    In this module you will learn about Technical Analysis and Charting. We will explore how the data delivered from the stock exchange is represented in a visual format on Charts, and why they are an important tool for our decision-making process. We will then explore how to identify the balance of buyers and sellers using Japanese Candlesticks.

    Trend, Support & Resistance

    The study of Trends, Support & Resistance is key to successful trading and investing. In this lesson, you will learn what a Trend is. We will discuss the concept of Time-Frame analysis and explore what defines a trend. We will introduce you to Support & Resistance and discuss its importance in your every-day decision-making process.

    Chart Patterns

    In this lesson, you have learnt about Chart Patterns including Double Tops & Double Bottoms, Ascending, Descending and Symmetrical Triangles, Rectangles, and the Head & Shoulders patterns. We have shown you how to identify these patterns forming, and what the expected movement is based on historical performance.

    Indicators

    In this lesson, we have introduced you to the concept of using Indicators for decision-making on entry and exit points for trading. We introduced you to the key indicators: Moving Average, RSI, Stochastic Oscillator, Bollinger Bands and On Balance Volume, and how they can be used to define timing of entry and exit.

    In this module, you will learn about the Covered Call strategy. You will be introduced to the concept of Option Writing and why you would use this strategy, outlining the Risks and Rewards. You will also learn what type of stock is best suited for a Covered Call and how to choose the ideal strike price for writing calls and the impact of ITM, ATM and OTM call writing.
